About
Founded in 2021, Authentic Pilates of New England was created to bring the precision and philosophy of Classical Pilates to every body. The studio is built on a simple belief: movement should be mindful, strengthening, and deeply supportive.
Our mission is to preserve the integrity of Joseph Pilates’ original method while making it accessible and empowering for people of all ages and abilities. Whether you’re new to Pilates or a long-time student, each session is designed to help you move with strength, balance, and ease.
Maureen LeMarbre, studio owner and instructor, has been teaching Pilates since 2007, but her love for the method began years earlier in 2003. She completed her first Comprehensive Certification with Power Pilates and later deepened her classical training through the Advanced Teacher Training Program with Clare Dunphy of Progressive Bodyworks in 2018.
Always committed to learning, Maureen completed the prestigious Bridge Program with The New York Pilates Studio® at Rhinebeck Pilates in 2023, earning her certification through The Pilates Guild® to teach Authentic Pilates.
Maureen’s teaching blends deep classical knowledge with a calm, supportive presence. Her approach is structured yet patient, encouraging students to move with curiosity, confidence, and a sense of possibility. She believes Pilates should meet you exactly where you are—helping you uncover your body’s strength one movement at a time.
Our Philosophy
At Authentic Pilates of New England, we honor the original Classical Method while teaching with a modern, supportive approach. Every lesson is built on Joseph Pilates’ belief that “physical fitness is the first requisite of happiness.”
Our focus is on mindful movement, helping you connect strength, breath, and alignment. We believe Pilates is for every body, and that small, consistent progress leads to lifelong change. Whether you are recovering from injury, improving mobility, or simply looking to move with more confidence, our goal is to make Pilates accessible, effective, and empowering.
About Joseph Pilates
The Pilates Method was developed in the early 1900s by Joseph Hubertus Pilates, who called his practice Contrology, the art of coordinating body, mind, and spirit through focused movement. His original exercises and equipment design form the foundation of Classical Pilates today.
Joseph’s work continues to inspire teachers and students around the world for its power to strengthen, align, and restore the body through mindful motion.
