Studio Etiquette

*24 hours notice is required to cancel a session in order to reschedule.

*All Lessons start on time; Please try to arrive 5 minutes early to allow time to put shoes, coats, etc away

*If the door is closed & locked, then please wait for the previous session to end before entering

*Please silence Cell Phones

*Wear comfortable/fitted clothing (no zippers/buttons please)
Please no sharp Jewelry on equipment
Please no oils or lotions
*Bare feet or Sticky socks are best

*Stay hydrated/bring water. Small bottles are available in case you forget -In the office on top of cabinet

*If you are not feeling well or have a cold, please stay home.
*In case of inclement weather, check phone/email before you leave your house. If OHAC is closed then Authentic Pilates is also closed.
*In case of a cancelled class due to weather or other unforeseen event like Power outage, then a Zoom Class will be optional.


Terms & Conditions

Client's use of the Orchard Hills Athletic Club Facility under this agreement shall specifically include access to the following areas: parking, entry and access ways, restrooms, changing rooms and showers. However, Landlord (OHAC) may define specific areas of the Facility that are not intended for use by the Tenant/Client in the new Operating Procedures. Such common areas will include areas for which OHAC customarily charges its members an additional use fee (above regular membership fee) or requires advance reservations. Examples include but are not limited to use of the tennis courts, fitness center, pools or OHAC's personal trainers.

Authentic Pilates of New England LLC clients will be allowed to use the Kid’s Club during regular operating hours for a fee. All Kid’s Club operating rules will be enforced.

Client of Authentic Pilates of New England LLC acknowledges that Landlord (OHAC) shall not be responsible for any loss, damage, or theft to or of motor vehicles which occurs on the facility except as may result from the negligent acts of Landlord.

What is the difference between Authentic Pilates vs Contemporary Pilates?
Authentic Pilates is based on The Method called “Contrology” based on Joseph H. Pilates “Return to Life” as well as archival photos, film footage and documentation as taught to me by The Pilates Source®️. Contemporary Pilates has been modified to modern times, both equipment as well as the exercises.

What if I am in an Equipment/Trio Class and I miss more than 2 weeks?

Each Trio Package has an expiration date so please review when purchasing and plan accordingly.
In special circumstances Authentic Pilates will extend the expiration date or transfer to credit. Please call Authentic Pilates if you will miss more than 2 weeks.

If you miss 4 weeks or more of Class you will need to take 1-3 private lessons before re-entering a class. This is for your own safety and out of respect for the other clients.


Who is Joseph H. Pilates?
Joseph Hubertus Pilates (9 December 1883 – 9 October 1967) was a German physical trainer, credited with inventing and promoting the Pilates method of physical fitness. He called it Contrology.
One of my favorite Joe quotes is:

“If your spine is inflexibly stiff at 30, you are old. IF it is completely flexible at 60, you are young”


Where should I begin? How do I start?
The most effective way to approach Pilates is by taking Private Lessons and/or taking Mat Classes.
Private Lessons focuses on individual needs and you will be able to utilize various pieces of the apparatus during your lesson.
Mat classes are another great option for starting your Pilates journey and will focus on building your Powerhouse using The Mat and small equipment such as The Magic Circle, small weights, Bean Bag Device, etc.
